Guggenheim Museum Website

Design Brief
Design a website after a historic building. The layout must include 5 pages featuring information about that building, the design style of that period, the architect, gallery page, and the site’s design.

My Concept
Because the Guggenheim is such a unique and memorable building, I created a masthead that celebrated its spiral shape. This shape was created from a photograph taken inside the Guggenheim, looking down towards the ground floor. I felt the spiral related to the words I had found in my research, ‘nature’ and ‘flow’. It has great flow, direction, and depth, which makes the page inviting and engaging.

The color palette was inspired by the initial research. Because the Guggenheim embodies the style of Organic Architecture, it finds form in nature. I found many images that communicated the idea of ‘nature’, ‘growth’ and ‘flow’. Within the photos, colors of warm autumn and cool wind came to the forefront.

Colophon
